As 2025 comes to a close, we reflect on the achievements, challenges, and growth experienced by our community of school business officials. The goals we set at the beginning of the year, whether focused on professional development, operational excellence, or personal well-being, have driven us forward. While some milestones have been reached, others remain on the horizon, serving as our inspiration for the year ahead.

Resilience has been a defining quality for our members in 2025. The ever-changing landscape of education requires adaptability, perseverance, and a willingness to embrace new solutions. Our journey through the past year reminds us that while the path to success is rarely straightforward, it is the determination to rise after setbacks that marks true leadership. In the face of every challenge, ASBO International members have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to their schools, communities, and personal growth.

We encourage every member to acknowledge the progress made, whether through launching innovative strategies, building stronger teams, or implementing effective school operations. Even if not every goal has been fully achieved, the small victories and lessons learned are essential toward future accomplishments, strengthening the foundation for what is yet to come.

Focus on the priorities that matter most to you, whether it’s personal development to advance your career, implementing strategies to support your school district’s mission, or perhaps volunteering to serve on one of ASBO International’s committees.

Staying Resilient

As we look ahead to 2026, use the experiences of this past year to set meaningful, attainable goals. Focus on the priorities that matter most to you, whether it’s personal development to advance your career, implementing strategies to support your school district’s mission, or perhaps volunteering to serve on one of ASBO International’s committees. Here are a few strategies you can use in the coming year:

  • Embrace Change: Accept that change is inevitable and can lead to growth. Flexibility in your approach allows you to adapt and keep moving forward.

  • Practice Self-care: Take care of your physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Prioritizing sleep, healthy eating, and activities that recharge you is essential for maintaining resilience.

  • Seek Support: Surround yourself with positive, encouraging people. Whether it’s family, friends, or mentors, a strong support system can lift you up during tough times.

  • Stay Focused on Your "Why": Remind yourself regularly why you set your goals in the first place. A strong sense of purpose fuels perseverance when motivation wanes.

  • Break Goals into Steps: Large goals can be overwhelming. Break them down into manageable actions and celebrate progress along the way.

Moving Forward: Optimism for the Future

True resilience is not merely about weathering hardship but about thriving and finding opportunity in the midst of change. The late Colin Powell said, “Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier.” As ASBO International and its members move from 2025 into 2026, let us keep our vision clear, our commitment strong, and our hearts open to the possibilities that lie ahead.

In the end, accomplishment is not just about reaching the finish line, but about who you become along the way. As you press ahead, remember that resilience is a journey, not a destination. Let your experiences from 2025 empower you, and step into 2026 with optimism, courage, and the unwavering belief that you can achieve what you set out to do.
